Washington Ave
Washington Avenue runs below and parallel to I10 and along with Memorial Drive, if you stay on it long enough, will dump you out in downtown Houston near the theaters. Mostly bars and restaurants line Washington Ave. where you can find a large portion of the city’s popular night clubs.
My days of frequenting the clubs have long been over, but local favorites are Clutch and The Sporting Club. If I’m choosing a restaurant here, it will probably be Bluefish Sushi, El Tiempo, Miyako or Velvet Taco.
There are not really any houses “on” Washington, but there are many houses just off the popular thoroughfare. If you are considering living here you need to be aware of the increased night traffic and parking, increased nightly pedestrian traffic, potentially loud music late at night, and a lot of street noise from people showing off the clout of their sports car engines.
As Washington runs through (and above) Rice Military and Magnolia Grove, the houses are the same. Pricing will be lower the closer you get to Washington Ave.
